previous year expenditures showing.
July 16 & 25, 2008-------------------------------Review expenditure requests with the
County Board. (Meeting schedule in the Clerk’s Office)
July 31, 2008------------------------------------- Budget reviewed by County Board and set for hearing.
August 1, 2008----------------------------------- Preliminary levy allocation requests filed with the County. (Fire
Districts, Townships and Ag. Society)
August 20, 2008---------------------------------- County Assessor certifies assessed value.
August 29, 2008--------------------------------- Budget Hearing and/or adoption.
August 29, 2008---------------------------------- County Board determines final levy authority to be shared.
September 20, 2008----------------------------- Adopted budget filed with Clerk and Auditor.
September 30, 2008----------------------------- Public Hearing to change tax levy from prior year. (If needed,
Due on or before October 9th)
October 9, 2008---------------------------------- Election and/or town hall meeting results filed with the Board.
October 13, 2008-------------------------------- Resolution setting a tax request different from the prior year filed
with the Clerk. (For Political Subdivisions)
October 15, 2008-------------------------------- County Board of Equalization levies the necessary taxes.
November 21, 2008----------------------------- Tax list to the County Treasurer.
LEGAL NOTICE REQUIREMENTS
Notice of Budget Hearing and Budget Summary published before hearing----------5 days.
Notice of special hearing to change tax request from prior year tax request---------5 days.
Notice of budget changes following hearing (if budget is changed)-----------------20 days.
